Weslo Crosswalk 5.2t Treadmill Review

For anyone who is into fitness and running, Weslo should be a very familiar name.

This brand has a long history behind it, and has build up a respectable reputation over the years.

And when it comes to treadmills, both manual and motorized, Weslo still ranks amongst the best brands.

Review of:
Weslo Crosswalk 5.2T

A good treadmill for the price point. It would be nice to have a few more incline options.

And they are definitely on the path to the very top.

With this latest treadmill they put out, they have confirmed that they really got what it takes to deliver a ground breaking treadmill.

And that’s exactly what Weslo Crosswalk 5.2t is.

It was always a task for manufacturers to successfully combine two different fitness machines into a single product.

But what Weslo combined here is definitely refreshing, innovative, and revolutionary. Because Crosswalk 5.2t is more than just an advanced treadmill.

With it, you get the integrated Norwegian hiking exercise, with the ability to work your upper body in the same time when you’re walking, jogging, or running.

This is truly a cross-walk achievement, and can really change the way you’ve exercised until now.

Lets dive in to the Weslo Crosswalk 5.2T review and take a look at the features.

While we can all agree that running is an all inclusive, full body workout, and is unparalleled when it comes to losing weight and toning your body, it can still be hard to target a particular set of muscles.

Some of you would still resort to other exercises to develop either your chest, your abs, or your thighs – or any other part that is lagging behind.

But with Weslo’s new innovative approach to designing this treadmill, you can rest easy.

The integrated pair of cross training long handles will make it easier to emulate the well known trekking exercise which is perfect for upper body development.

This cross walk training is an integral part of an effective exercise, and will help you to burn more calories.

The overall design of the Crosswalk 5.2t follows the general previously established elements that we saw in many other advanced treadmills.
This design is dominated by a large and futuristic looking central panel at the front. This is supported by the two sturdy steel beams that make up the outer frame. But still, this large display is smaller than for example the ProForm 905 CST one.
The outer frame is sturdy and robust, and you can be sure that it will be durable for a very long time. Another part of this outer frame are the cross walk handles that we mentioned. They are bolted onto the frame itself, at a height that makes them most efficient.

The running deck follows the general principle of most other running macines in the market and is long enough for even the longest of strides.

The running belt is bordered by two widened, textured plastic strips, which serve to help you as you step off from the moving belt. This ensures security for the user.

The rest of the deck is encased in protective plastic covering, particularly where the motor is. It not only protects the parts, but also minimizes noise and vibrations.

Without a doubt, Weslo Crosswalk 5.2t is really a treadmill that puts the gym experience at your very doorstep.

This was achieved through years of carefully developing their trademark fitness equipment, and a lot of designing as well. So what we have is a truly robust and durable treadmill, capable of withstanding some very energetic training – so don’t be afraid to test your fast running capabilities on it.

But still, with all being said, the maximum user weight limit could be a bit better. It’s still reasonably good at 250 lbs (~113 kg).  But with a few crafty innovations in the running deck itself, as well as the generally sturdy outer frame, you can still be confident in the toughness of this Weslo product. It will last!

These are the overall dimensions of Crosswalk 5.2t treadmill:

Incline and Adjustability

Now this is where Crosswalk 5.2t lags behind some of the bigger and more advanced treadmills on the market – incline.

Recently we mentioned the ProForm 905 CST treadmill, which offered an amazing 12 degrees of quick digital incline adjustment.

But Weslo opted for the old school setting, with only two manual incline settings on offer. Still, this can serve as a nice added challenge when you feel like it. Simply adjust the incline part and you’re all set.
The large panel features an LCD screen, and with it comes a whole lot of options.

First you can set different speeds, up to 10 MPH. You also get to choose from four different preset workout programmes, which will allow you to choose your very own challenge.

What you also get included is a nifty little feature, one that you don’t get to see on all treadmills. It’s an integrated thumb pulse heart rate monitor. Simply put your thumb to the screen and it will quickly measure your vitals. This comes in very useful when you’d like to know how your stats are.

Another huge benefit that comes with this design is its folding option.

Yes, Weslo Crosswalk 5.2t is another advanced motorized treadmill that can be folded.

It take only a moment to fold it vertically once you are finished, and then wheel it away in no time. It can easily fit behind a closet, in a cupboard or a spare room. And this means a lot for any users that have limited space to workout in.

Console and Programmes

The Console follows a more straightforward and minimalistic design, it still has everything that you’ll need to know and use.

The console has a small LCD display, which shows you the essentials:

  • time
  • pulse
  • speed
  • distance
  • calories burned
  • laps covered

You can also choose from different preset workouts, priority displays, and speed settings.

Like several other treadmills, this Weslo product also features the popular iFit programme. Their essential exercises are included into the preset workouts you can choose. With a touch of the button you can select a different challenge for the day. Adapt it to your abilities, strength, and mood.

And with the added thumb pulse heart rate monitor, checking your vitals has never been simpler. You can do it while running, as it is quick, easy and efficient.

Motor and Belt

Crosswalk 5.2t sports a fairly powerful motor, which can stand up to most of its contemporaries.

It is a 2.25 HP Impulse O motor, which does its job efficiently, and can get the belt going up to 10 miles per hour.

While 2.25 horse powers isn’t as much as some other treadmills have, such as ProForm 705 and 905, or Gold’s Gym Trainer 430i, it is still a reliable and balanced motor.

You can rest easy when it is doing its task – it does a very good job.

And it is also conveniently quiet.

With the added covering, you can rest assured that the vibrations and the sounds will be almost non existent.

The belt itself measures 16” by 50”, and is constructed from the general thick rubber that most manufacturers rely on. It is also adequately textured. Small patterns will help with your grip, and prevent slipping during workouts.

One neat feature of the running deck and belt is the added unique system called Comfort Cell Cushioning. This helps minimize the stress on both the treadmill, but also your joints and ankles.

It absorbs the pressure of your movements, and distributes that force evenly throughout the treadmill. This flexible movement ensures a natural running experience, and minimizes the wear on your body.

It is this shock absorber element that is the saving grace of Weslo Crosswalk 5.2t treadmill. With it, this piece of equipment can safely step up to the game and offer the same concept as some much more advanced treadmills – albeit in a more humble product.

Assembly and Maintenance

Assembly of the treadmill is not a big issue. Most users agree that it only takes an hour or two to fully assemble the product, as the instruction are clear, and most parts are pre assembled.

A couple of wrenches and a hex screw are all that’s needed, and in no time you’re be able to get on with your workout.

Weslo also offers a ninety day warranty on labor and parts, and there is also an option of extended warranty for an extra charge.

When it comes to maintenance, the general rules apply here as well.

You can regularly check up on the tightness of the screws – it doesn’t hurt to re-tighten them from time to time to prevent any wobbling.

You can also lubricate, perhaps twice a year – and after the first year of use.

This comes as standard advice with any treadmill – it helps prolong the service lifespan of your product, and also minimize the possibility of wear and tear.

Weslo Crosswalk 5.2t VS Weslo Cadence G 5.9i

The main two models from the latest Weslo designs are the Crosswalk 5.2t and the Cadence G 5.9i.

While largely following the same design and elements, there are still some noticeable differences between them. And when you’re making your choice, it is worth knowing what each of them can offer.

For starters, the Cadence G has a noticeably higher user weight capacity. This means that Crosswalk really isn’t intended for heavier users, while Cadence can support them.

There are also obvious design and size differences. Their looks are thoroughly different as Weslo took two approaches to manufacture.

While Cadence has a few sharp lines and a more crude, robust manufacture, the Crosswalk can boast more modernized lines and aesthetics.

It also worth noticing that although Cadence’s front console has a dedicated space for holding your tablet, the Crosswalk console is still more advanced.

That something you should take into account if tablet space is more significant to you than modern features.

  • Affordable
  • Efficient
  • Natural running
  • Quiet
  • Comfort Cell Cushioning
  • Modern design

  • No tablet or book holder
  • Lack of incline settings
  • Only cater for user weight up to 260lbs

Weslo Crosswalk 5.2t is the perfect example that you can still get a very decent treadmill, for a very affordable price.

When it comes to some other similar treadmills on the market, the price tag of Crosswalk is very, very lightweight. And when you consider that you’re basically getting a two in one deal, with the implemented cross walk trekking handles, you know that you’ve got a good deal on your hands.

Don’t let yourself be distracted by some elements that are lacking on this treadmill. Sure, the motor could be more stronger, and more incline levels would be nice – but the option to work your upper body while jogging or running is simply too good to miss out. And when all things are said and done, and you consider what is on offer, you will understand that Weslo Crosswalk 5.2t folding treadmill is a really balanced, reliable and all round efficient piece of equipment.
